A Level company - serving New York, NY

Meet the Team - Level Two Chimney New York

Every visit starts with

Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed

Worth knowing

Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.

Meet the New York Team Behind Level Two Chimney New York

You won’t get a rotating cast of subcontractors when you book with Level Two Chimney New York. You’ll get the same small crew that has been working the five boroughs and nearby New Jersey since the company opened here. Between us we’ve inspected and cleaned tens of thousands of flues, and every one of us carries the same rule: written price before work starts, photo record when it’s done. That’s not a New York thing. That’s a Haven Standard thing. Corrine Halstead owns and runs this location, and she still rides along on the big liner jobs.

Our People

Mark T., Lead Technician

Mark has been with Level Two Chimney New York for 11 years, and before that he spent 8 years doing masonry restoration across Queens and Brooklyn. He’s our lead on liner installations and full rebuilds, and he’s the one Corrine sends when a chimney has been neglected long enough that the diagnosis isn’t obvious from the ground. Mark is NFPA 211 Level 2 certified for camera-scan inspections, which means he can tell you what’s happening 20 feet up without guessing. He keeps a small notebook in his back pocket full of sketches of unusual smoke chamber shapes he’s run into. Ask him about the 1920s building in Astoria with a smoke chamber that corkscrewed. He’ll talk your ear off.

Denise R., Service Coordinator

Denise is the voice on the phone when you call (551) 213-5548, and she’s been doing it for this location since 2015. Her job is to get your appointment on the calendar, get the named technician assigned, and text you when that tech is on the way. She’s the one who makes sure your written estimate is emailed before anyone rings your bell. Before joining Level Two, Denise managed scheduling for a heating and cooling outfit in the Bronx, which is where she learned that a no-show technician is worse than no technician at all. She lives in Woodlawn and has strong opinions about which bakery makes the best cannoli in that neighborhood.

Andre C., Senior Installer

Andre handles the heavier structural work: chimney caps, crowns, chase covers, and the kind of repointing that requires a scaffold and a steady hand. He’s been with us for 9 years and he’s certified, background-checked, and the person we put on a roof when a crown has spalled badly enough that chunks are coming down in the rain. Andre sources our materials through the same network the whole company uses: DuraFlex, HeatShield, Gelco, Olympia, Famco, Copperfield. He’ll tell you why a DuraFlex liner makes sense for one flue and a HeatShield application makes sense for another, and he’ll show you the price difference in writing before anything gets ordered. His one human detail: he rebuilds vintage motorcycles in his free time, and he says the patience transfers.

Liam P., Apprentice Technician

Liam is the newest member of the crew, coming up on two years with us. He started by running the camera gear and prepping work areas, and now he handles basic sweeps and fireplace cleanings under Mark’s supervision. Liam is working toward his own NFPA 211 Level 2 certification, and in the meantime he’s been taught the standard from the ground up: document everything, name the condition you see, and never tell a homeowner they need a liner unless the camera footage shows it clearly. Before this, he did residential painting in Staten Island, which is why he treats drop cloths like a religion. He’s also, technically, the only person on the team who can identify every pigeon species that roosts near Manhattan rooftops, which is more useful on the job than you’d think.

One Standard, Every Job

One Standard, Every Job

The team in New York follows the same Haven Standard the company has run on since 2009, across more than 38,000 inspections and cleanings. Clause 1 means a written price, written scope, and written warranty are in your hands before any work begins. Clause 4 means every visit gets a documented photo record, not just on the big repairs. The 365-Day Done Right Promise applies to everything we do, which means if something isn’t right, the same team comes back and makes it right. We don’t subcontract the culture out. Corrine hires people who can name a creosote stage and a smoke chamber in the same sentence, and who understand that a homeowner in a brownstone has different questions than someone in a high-rise. The standard travels with the person, not the postcode.
